Why learn about communication / swallowing?

  • People in an environment are key to providing a supportive opportunity to communicate.  Without this opportunity people won’t communicate.
  • To learn new skills to support an individual with communication and/or swallowing difficulties
  • People in a caring environment need the knowledge to recognise and manage swallowing difficulties to reduce complications caused by this impairment.

What packages are available:

Training packages to educate and advise on Swallowing and Communication for:

  • Care givers or care agencies
  • Nursing and Residential Homes
  • Family members
  • Companies

The training packages can be individualised to the setting.  A standard package is available.

How to achieve successful learning:

 

  • Increase theoretical knowledge of individual topics using presentations
  • Practical activities such as tasting, feeding, communication tasks.
  • Reflection
